A short History of The Drunken God

Caydens story is famous and known all around the world.
A man so drunk that he accidentally uncovered the secrets of the divine and became a god.

Mortal Life

Cayden was born a regular human, to regular human parents. They where brewers, giving him an innate understanding of alcohol from a very young age on.
As he grew up, the life his parents were leading bored him terribly. So he became an adventurer. Through all of this his most important characteristics were his love for the drink, a good story and a genuine desire to help those that needed it most.

Cayden quickly became known for solving a problem, celebrating so hard that he created a new one and the cycle starting again.

Ascension

Eventually his travels lead him to a tavern that would become his first temple. Through unknown means he managed to get so incredibly drunk, that the secrets of the world and universe were laid bare before him. That moment he ascended to godhood and became the patron of celebration & drink.

Worship

Worshippers

Cayden is mostly worshipped by hedonists and adventurers, both groups feeling represented by him.
Although due to his altruistic nature many vagabonds, orphans and prostitutes pray to him as well. Hoping to receive his blessing.

Priests

Cayden has few proper priests, but many bartenders consider themselves honorary priests of the drunken god.
Many of the actual priests were among the forgotten of society, leading to them lacking education but making up for that by their warmth and understanding.

Paladins

The few paladins sworn to Cayden are usually adventurers, traveling the world to right the wrongs, with a chaotic good alignement. They follow the spirit of the law and are often found leading underground rebellions against unjust regimes.

Acts of Worship

Cayden is best worshipped by having a drink in his name, by helping those in need and by a good celebration.

Temples

Cayden does not have temples in the traditional sense. Every bar, tavern and wine cellar is technically a temple to him.
Every brewery, vineyard or distillery a monastery.
It is not unusual for orphanages to have small shrine dedicated to Cayden, as many consider him a patron of the lost.
