Personality & Shortcomings
Whoever has the true controll is very interested in the second continent. As such she should be taken into custody and interrogated for what she knows. Even before her capture, she was already a good tactician with a mind for business, her captor seems to use this to their advantage and adds their own ruthlessnes to it.Whoever is behind this woman exhibits a too great interest in the second continent.
A Complete History of Adgella Blackwater
You are not supposed to read this, if you do, close the article and tell me. Huge Spoilers for important parts of the campaign ahead.Adgella Blackwater was one of the lucky few commoners to be selected to take part in the escape from the Darkness. Meant to maintain the works of what is now the Shifting Isles, she was a lowly technician, a fact that ultimately would save her life. As the tension within the expidition grew, she was spared the worst as she was able to fly under the radar and escape detection until the very end. She kept a pet turtle, which would later escape the destruction of the expedition and grow to enormous sizes, its carcass later becoming the island of Tortuga.
During the last nights of the first expedition, Adgella Blackwater died. Slowly sinking to the ground of the ocean, being dragged down by the last thing she had to remember her family by - a ruby set into a necklace. As she was dying, The Silence of Winter intervened. Making her an offer, to preserve her life, as she would be able to fight the Darkness at a later point in time. Adgella took that deal, losing her memory of the details, only remembering the broader strokes. Her soul was bound into that necklace, able and forced to take possession of any person that put it around their neck. Her soul would reenter the necklace as soon as the body dies, starting the cycle anew.
For millenia the necklace was buried among the ruins at the bottom of the ocean. 500 Years before the current year a singular mermaid was digging through the rubble and came close enough to be compelled by the soul within to put it on. At this point Adgella reawakened from her slumber and took possession of the body, incredibly confused and scared.
Fortunately for her, nobody in the area knew the adventurer she took control of. After many months of study, she was able to decipher the completely new language and set out to explore the new world, expecting to see what became of the expedition. It pained her deeply, that nothing of her civilisation seemed to have passed the test of time. She was able to piece some things back together and decided that she would try her best to find a way back home.
Adgella was devastated to find that no one even remembered the continent they all came from, and even more horrified by the prospect, that no one knew how to build ships strong enough to withstand the storms surging around the continent. Dedicating herself to uncovering the entire past, with the express goal of returning home, still in the hope of finding the descendants of the ones she had lost.
As soon as she saw the rise of the pirates, she took the chance to join them and claimed a ship of her own, closely working with Old Deathsail to ensure that a strong coalition would be formed and kept for multiple centuries. Her knowledge growing with every year and her expertise steadily raising, she is the mother of many an invention that made its way back to the mainland.
For the last many decades she has been working with Old Deathsail to stabilize the Islands, to ensure their continued independence and relevancy on a global scale.
Personality
Adgella is uniquely focused on unearthing anything that relates back to the original expedition, in an attempt to learn what caused its fall, while attempting to reverse engineer the technology and magic combination that made the expedition possible. She is focused on her goal and will do almost anything to achieve that, she will go out of her way to ensure that nobody is harmed, but if necessary, she will sacrifice anyone that stands in her way, even if it pains her greatly.Over the many lifes she has led, she learned to genuinely love the Isles and all those that inhabit them. She deeply cares for her chosen home, staying voluntarily instead of seeking answers on the mainland.
She feels sorry for the people whose bodies she takes, but sees it as an irreversible evil and exhausts a body fully before changing to a new one, preferring women with black hair as her hosts, especially those that seem to be unpleasent people.
