Firereach Training Review
General Summary
From: General Alan Artorious
To: Lords Oberon IV and Artemia, Bronach Nachlynson
Overview: The training grounds were set to challenge the party in a multitude of ways. We utilized multiple types of traps and clockwork enemies, with the overall goal of gathering 5 keys across the battlefield. The purpose of this training was to develop the skills and synergy of this ragtag group upon whom rests the fate of the world.
Concerns: Not all of the team appears to be innately supportive of team members. The team chose to split into groups of two, and almost immediately, one of those groups broke apart. Vocal support is minimal, and is sometimes downright insulting. No clear leadership to direct the party; tactical advantage is thus lower than its potential.
The party was slow to adapt to the attacks that they faced during the training. They could have utilized more defensive tactics early on to avoid damage from the clockwork bolter.
The party appears to be more reward-motivated than interested in the fate of us all.
Strengths: The team appears to be well-rounded in their abilities. They succeeded in retrieving the keys and showed creativity in doing so. Despite lack of solid leadership, they managed to demonstrate moments of cooperation and synergy that show great potential. As a whole, they function as individuals, but do come together in the end. When one is suffering, another steps up to protect or heal them.
In dealing with traps specifically, the party showed ingenuity. At times, they even turned traps to their advantage.
Additional notes: The party was attacked after training by a golden dragon who turned out to be the Ranni of the Sinner’s Syndicate, back from the dead to hunt them down. Despite the obvious disadvantage, they slew the dragon as a team, with an impressive onslaught of power.
Final Thoughts: If the party endeavors to work more cohesively as a team, learning to play off of one another’s strengths, and to cover one another’s weaknesses, the world may just be saved. Working together, the party should be able to withstand the challenges of Kossuth Volcano Island.
Rewards: The party was rewarded with 2000 gold pieces and the titles of Sinslayer and Dragonslayer. The party also became more durable due to their training (gained the Durable feat).
