12: Wrath of the Forest
General Summary
Druidic Letter
This letter was delived by an owl, and was dropped on Rowan's head in the tavern. The writing on the page was a mystery to the wizard, so it was passed around until it met Aralia's eyes. The writing is in druidic, and she could decipher the words therein.
"Little druid,
We the druids of the forest are honored by your choice to learn our ways, though we again offer our sincerest apologies for the way in which we met. Emboldened by your brave nature and wise words, we have endeavored to venture beyond the woods ourselves in order to nurture this new bond between our forest and the island beyond. I myself am too bonded with the forest and the Fey Wilds beyond, but the younger druids are still able to leave for some time. After all, the roots of the forest extend further than one can see.
The trees are still restless and uneasy, and the beasts of the forest remain wary, but with time and effort, they too will calm. I will see to it personally, in your name.
We hope you enjoyed your night visit to the woods, and can further understand the mystical connection this forest holds. The fey spirits are abuzz with the excitement for having met someone from beyond the woods, and are eager to see you again when you arrive for further learning.
With dearest thanks, for your wisdom and bravery,
Archdruid Thaon"
Diary Entry of Business Manager Jasmina
"We sent little Bowie the Brave through the re-powered teleportation circle. He was so eager to see his heroes, but in retrospect, it was probably foolish to send a small child through first. He returned looking as though he had been crying, but seemed pretty happy. The adventurer's followed shortly after. After a short tour of their rebuilt tavern and its upgrades, they seemed pleased.
I told them of our missing lumberjacks, and they decided to investigate. They returned hours later, looking tired. The boisterous one with the flowing cape looked particularly tired, and did not even join in for the festivities that followed. The little one, Aralia, informed us of an ancient pact with the forest and the druids that live there, one that we must continue to uphold if we wish to live in peace on the island. It seems that if we do our part to protect them, they in turn will protect us. This seems like a bond worth strengthening.
The old man of the island, Nicolan, returned from his own travels across the island, and further supported the pact with the forest, informing us of what he knew of the pact that had previously been upheld. I am sad that the old man passed on later that night. I found him at his table in the tavern, still as stone. Lady Emma is heartbroken, but stays stoic for the children of the orphanage.
The adventurer's have returned to their ship, and say they are moving north around the west side of Valterra. I wish them luck in their journey."
