After Sigrit Isalya, Jera's mother, was sentenced to death following the reading of Sigrit's Prophecy, Jera and her brother Ahri were adopted by Othala Trygg.

Jera was educated privately from the age of 8, when she relocated to Barosvik and went to live with her biological father Jaron Ellingboe. Given her father's noble status, she was educated very well and also took on physical combat training as was part of Barosvik tradition.

At the age of 8, Jera witnessed the death of her half-brother Ahri when a large amount of Raugh Delvar exploded in a warehouse where he was meeting with some of the rebels of Mithral.
At 27, Jera unwittingly discovered the truth behind the death of her brother, that her adoptive father Othala Trygg had infact been the one who took the shot which exploded the warehouse, not knowing that his own son was present. Upon discovering this, Jera confronted Othala in a physical altercation which ended with his death. This is Jera's biggest regret and she would do anything to bring her father back.
