Gulf of Iridensa

The Gulf of Iridensa makes up the majority of the Eastern coast of Solari Isle. There are about half a dozen tidal caves along the coast that have been used for a number of reasons. The coast has seen many changes throughout history and in present day is currently a hotspot for pirate activity and smuggling. Prior to the Era of Reckoning and The Rift, it used to be a very welcoming span of water full of sea elves and Water Genasi who all worshipped or otherwise revered the Goddess Iridensa.

The Gulf in present day is home to four villages: Boulderbanks, Overlook Village, and Mosspoint Cove; as well as Stockport, if you're counting The Shimmering Point. Many do, but the villagers of Stockport personally choose to say they are not part of the Gulf Villages, and claim The Shimmering Point as their own territory.

In the past, the Gulf was much more densely populated, with villages along the coasts, cliffs, and even stilted villages built into the sea. There were many attractions to encourage tourism and new visitors. The goal of these places, beyond making money for the locals, was to give visitors the options of exploring the underwater world with experienced guides and the aid of magic. These water villages ended up falling victim to pirate raids, or destroyed by natural disasters during the Era of Reckoning. The only village that exists from before The Rift is Overlook Village.

There is a whirpool off the coast of the gulf, where the open sea meets its warm waters. The whirlpool was not always there. According to legend, the whirlpool was created by the goddess Iridensa as a means of trying to keep pirates and smugglers away from her waters. Many view the presence of the whirlpool as a curse because it turned the gulf waters from a playful community and vacation spot for many of the islanders on Solari Isle, into a dangerous and unpredictable location, full of dangerous and unpredictable people.
