The Turalo Cure

The Turalo Cure was discovered in 1358 TA by a famous explorer working with a Wise Woman. The mixture was an extremely powerful concoction that could cure most diseases; indeed, for some, Turalo was the only cure. The two explorers had to go to some of the most inhospitable places in Irëduin before they discovered what the correct ingredients were, and even then they had to retrieve them. The entire pursuit took four years, what with the large amounts of research and travel.   The Turalo Cure consisted of five ingredients. Pelerga root, willoway bark, a Rath'shak claw, phoenix feathers, and aethr flowers.   Pelerga root was found all over the Great Plains between the Sea and the Deepwood. The essential part was under the ground, and great care had to be taken when extracting the root, as it was extremely fragile, and any breakages reduced the efficiency of the root. The root was identified by the wispy green leaves that grew above ground. Its purpose in the potion was to bind all the other ingredients together.   Willoway trees were trees that weren't as tall as some, most of their growth going into the branches going outward. These canopies could sometimes extend to over fifteen metres in diameter. The trees had silvery-grey bark, and silvery leaves. The bark could be prised off with a knife or other small blade, but care was required. Bigger pieces of the bark worked better when making the potion. The bark's reason for being included was that it was an incredibly strong regenerative substance, and could undo the damage that viruses, bacteria, and other destructive substances could do. Even in the event of a flesh wound only, without contamination, a liquid could be made from the bark that increased healing rate.   Rath'shak claws were dangerous to find and dangerous to retrieve, as Rath'shak were some of he most hostile creatures in Irëduin. They never gave up their claws willingly, and acquiring one was always a challenge. A claw was from three to twelve inches long, depending on the age and size of its owner. The size of the claw didn't matter for the potion, and a three-inch claw worked as well as a twelve-inch. The claw provided the strength the cure needed to drive out the most malignant diseases.   Phoenix were found in large numbers near Gu Táturhó, but could also be found on the Great Plains. They ranged in size from the size of a thrush when newly hatched to eagle-size when fully grown. Their colours could be red or gold, and everything in between. No two phoenix were identical to each other; each had slightly different colouring. Many had a mix of more than one, blending together to form one continuous pattern. The feather of a phoenix was used for its special healing properties.   And lastly, the aethr flowers. These blue flowers with petals shaped like dragon claws only thrived in the dirt of Gu Núvilvor, and were guarded fiercely by the dragons. They had a fruity, waxy smell, like honey and oranges. The aethr flowers were the most magical of all the ingredients, and were the spark that started the inferno. The aethr flowers were added last, and provided the magical jumpstart that the potion needed.
