Í Gularë du Kvÿskva

Í Gularë du Kvÿskva in Qëarya, or The Plains of Lightning in the Common Tongue, are a large area of flat ground in the North of Tílunur, populated only by the occasional dead tree. And for good reason. Í Gularë du Kvÿskva are arguably the most dangerous region in Tílunur, in Irëduin, even.
All year round, the plains are covered in stormclouds, from which rains a perpetual lightning-storm. The energy is drawn to the large amounts of athradite in the ground, a mineral which conducts energy extremely well. Anyone who ventures out onto the plains is almost instantly fried by a lightning bolt.
But on the fifth of Rodthr, this didn't stop Ralthyr Wazavor, Tywell III, and Zÿ from venturing out onto the plains. And surviving. The first in known history to do so. There was no secret to their success. Ralthyr cast a spell to either redirect the lightning strikes away from them slightly, or block them when they would have hit the three. He also used his sword, Talthäyr, to absorb the energy from the strikes on multiple occasions.
The plains are north of an outhrown spur of the Lövori Mountains which connects to the Síldur Valley Border Range. They stretch from the north end of the mountains in the east, all the way to the city of Kularis in the west, and from mountain range to mountain range in the north and south. The city of Alamë lies on their eastern border, almost completely cut off from the rest of civilisation by the plains and the mountains on whose foothills it sits. It is utterly unknown to most why someone would build a city there, but those higher up know that the city is dedicated to mining athradite for experimental weapons. Those who do live there are in constant danger of the athradite not being properly made safe, and a stray bolt hitting the city, although they don't know it. Every so often, a caravan comes across the mountains to pick up a small amount of the mineral, taking it to an unknown place where it is tested and attempts are made to make it into an energy weapon of enormous power.
