Armstrong's Landing
Armstrong's Landing is the starport and trading district for all off world trade. Armstrong is located at the edge of the Sagittarius Cluster yet provides food and moderate level technology for other nearby systems that aren't able to sustain their own populations. The Landing is the settlement that handles trade and provides services for starships and Travellers who pass through the system.
It consists of many huge warehouses, small starship repair and overhaul facilities, and the many service and trade activities that a large town requires to maintain and grow. Landing's prosperity has increased, along with the general growth for the whole system, as it increases it's ability to service higher technology and transport food with better processing while maintaining quality.
Demographics
The Landing, as the locals refer to it, is a city that has spread out from the original landing area and starport. Initially there was no city plan, areas sprung up as needed for housing, storage, merchant trade, restaurants, hotels, brothels, casinos, and the myriad of other types of activities needed to support a fairly large population.
Government
A corporate board runs the town as described in the original town charter. The board consists of five people, elected on a rotating basis every 5 years, so there is always one new member of the board each year.
Industry & Trade
The settlement is the central transfer station for all goods and services produced on Armstrong. Most of the trade is centered around fresh or processed food (meats, vegetables, fish, etc). The farms throughout Armstrong bring whatever excess foods and other goods to the Landing for trade off world.
Districts
Most of the Landing is warehousing and support for starport operations. About twenty percent is higher end for business owners and other wealthy individuals.
