Jayleen Alexandria Joshi (a.k.a. Rocket Girl, Jay)
Physical Description
Maroon jacket, fingerless gloves, white tank top, black shorts. Has tiny gold earrings.
Her most important gadget is her smartwatch, which contains tactical hologram capabilities.
Mental characteristics
Jayleen was born in Sojourner,
Mars . She had an older brother, sister, and a younger brother and sister. She grew up during the
The Martian Revolution and spent most of her childhood watching the battle for her planet in the skies above her city. In school, she was a troublemaker, along with her partner in crime,
Vincent Rossi . When she was ten, she ran away from home to avoid getting sent away to an
Aetheon Inc. boarding school.
After leaving home, Jayleen sought refuge with the
The Chaos Gang on
Europa . The Chaos Gang was a drug dealing and stealing crew that taught Jayleen how to survive on her own. Jayleen was taken under the wing of
Teresa, a mysterious member of the crew who saw Jayleen like a little sister.
When Jayleen was 12 years old, the gang was raided by Aetheon law enforcement. Jayleen escaped and traveled on her own for a little more than two years, doing private eye jobs for
Milo Metro , an old friend of the former gang. Eventually, Jayleen took on
Sora Saito as her sidekick.
In the REGARD THE SKIES series, Jayleen forms the
The Hellkids to evade capture from their feared enemy Commander Crossley and to uncover a galactic conspiracy. Jayleen is impulsive and idealistic, but her creative wits have kept her alive this long and she's not planning on going out anytime soon.
Jayleen attended school up until the 5th grade when she ran away from Mars. As a result, her book-smarts are far behind her peers, and often something she tries to hide. She particularly struggles with reading (doesn't hold her attention) and any skills she doesn't use daily. She's a brilliant programmer and decent at science and math, but up until Ripley corrected her, she believed that humans landed on the moon only a hundred years ago.
After leaving the Chaos Gang, Jayleen found work as a hacker-for-hire. She likes to fight for the underdog and often finds herself taking on corrupt corporations and shady billionaires. She gets job assignments from Milo, who negotiates with clients looking to get their least-favorite organizations exposed.
Jayleen considers her biggest accomplishment to be her Aetheon Most Wanted profile, even though the profile lowballs the number of incidents involving arson.
Jayleen has an anxiety disorder, which manifests in bouts of insomnia and frequent episodes of paranoia. She's constantly jittery and her thoughts tend to spiral quickly. Jayleen is also prone to infrequent panic attacks. She has several techniques to combat her anxiety, including breathing exercises and surrounding herself with people and work, though she is in desperate need of a real therapist.
Jayleen has a skewed hero complex and finds herself taking on lost causes and punching up more often than not. She hates bullies in any form, as well as limits on personal freedom.
Personality Characteristics
Jayleen dreams of leading a spaceship crew of hacktivists and explorers, while seeking out the wildest depths of the galaxy. She wants the security that a spaceship would bring, and pursues this goal in the hope that it will ease her anxiety as well.

History
Jayleen and Vinn met in grade school where they used to cause trouble and spend their afternoons running around Sojourner. They had a falling out when Jayleen ran away, as Vinn felt betrayed after learning that she left on her own volition, leaving him to think she had died. They later reconciled six years later when Jayleen returns to Mars and asks Vinn to join her in space.
Commonalities & Shared Interests
Both of them love keeping up with the HOV-Bike races and reminiscing about their shared childhood on Mars.
She has zero money. Like, none. When she has some she ends up giving it away or spending it on ridiculous things for Helena's Endeavor .
