The History of The Ring of Fire and Dragons. so far

Dwarves and Elves were much more prevalent in the centuries before the Orc wars.

Since then, the Elves have mostly been called to the West. A few remain for personal reasons, but they do not constitute a living society. There are many half-elves, however; they were not invited into the West. There are abandoned towers, often located in groves of towering Redwood trees. One might also come across a small settlement abandoned but for one or two elderly residents and their half-elf decendants.

Dwarves were very busy in the Ryopytavs, but suffered greatly in the Orc wars, and were routinely oppressed by the Fornradur during its reign. Most retreated to the Broken Sky range (the Rockies), farther to the east. Much of their lore, treasures, mines, etc remain lost. Fornradure also managed to foster an extreme social prejudice against dwarves. Some are coming back to the region, or are beginning to live more openly as dwarves, finding a renewed pride in their heritage.

Current Species & Cultures

The oldest human communities in Makasing are those descended from people who traveled over the landbrige from "Asia" at the end of the ice age. They are the dominant people groups in Makasing.   Around 600 BCE, a group of refugees from the Medeteranian were allowed to settle in the winterwheat valley, on the eastern slopes of the Ryopytave Mountains. Over the centuries thay have built several cities and adopted some of the lifeways of their neighbors. Other wanderers have joined them, lost vikings in the 3rd century CE, and most recently (about 300 years ago) a contingent of Frankish failed colonists.

Needs & Relations

Shortly after the Orc Wars, a celestial event caused some sort of cataclysm in Western Europe, causing a mini ice age that drasticly reduced populations in all communities. For over one hundred years, all people cared about was survival.   The human communities are now starting to expand, and experiencing a sort of scientific revolution, with the establishment of univiersities and exchange of ideas.   Dwarven communities are also beginning to leave their isolation and interact more with the peoples of the surface.   A new generation of dragons are also coming of age. They are sorting out how they will interact with other communities be they human, orc, or dwarven. They are also looking to establish their first lair - the center of their power and territory.
