The Battle of False Foes

A strange occurrence many years ago at the edges of Vast, The Battle of False Foes took place during a period of heightened orc raids, when two force clashed by accident.
Both had been out aiming to hunt down and drive out some of the orc camps in the area, and due to the large number of orcs they'd already been fighting, both groups had with them many pieces of orcish armor or weapons that they had scavenged from their fallen foes. Many of these pieces were even in use, as the orcs of the time had quite sturdy craftsmanship.
This lead to both forces initially believing the other to be a band or orcs, and they clashed for a couple of minutes before they realized the truth. Both sides had taken note of the particularly skilled opponents they were facing, and the rather unusual organization their foes used. For orcs, it was a rather strangely organized force. It wasn't until one of the soldiers shouted out, in common, about the strangeness of these orcs they were facing, that the misunderstanding began to be cleared up. The medics and healers of both sides rapidly rushed to help each others' wounded, and miraculously neither side had any casualties.
Once the confusion and its aftermath settled, they banded together and managed to drive out the actual roc force they had been seeking in the first place, bringing safety back to their respective cities.
Despite their efforts not to let their rather embarrassing mess up be known, the story ended up spreading, and dramatizations of the rather strange accidental encounter are still sung by bards in Vast to this very day.
