The Eight Old Gods

Corigon, Isthimus, Jelin, Kaliss, Muril, Rallimantis, Wandolin and Osis

They were the Khamanau to the Egyptians and Prime Aeons to the Gnostics. Regardless of name, their nature's the same. The first sentient beings in the cosmos, the Eight Old Gods, have worked to maintain safety across the Dimensions by dealing with various threats both great and small.

Personal history

In the beginning the Ogdoad came into being. The Children of the Big Bang, eight entities born from hydrogen-derived cosmic plasma. They assumed some abstract forms to interact with the material world.

Corigon the Careful was the curious explorer of the group. They were trusting, perhaps a bit naive, and always believed in the good within people:

Isthimus the Infamous was set on making every sentient species in the cosmos know of them. They sought worship and particularly enjoyed human reverence:

Jelin the Yearning was the least brave of the eight. They wanted to be more courageous but always found themselves the first to seek pacifistic solutions:

Kaliss the Cold was the silent brooder, with a more gentle side under his stony exterior. They were protective of Jelin and are said to be the inventor of the hand-fan. They could also create silver and gold from nothing:

Muril the Mighty was the group's musician and invented wind instruments. Their weapon of choice when in a physical form was a deadly flute:

Rallimantis the Raging was the warrior of the group and the most violent. They were considered the 'unstable' member of the eight, and had a soft spot for the sick and needy:

Wandolin the Wise had the greatest intelligence of any being in the cosmos and was the first alchemist:

Osis the Old was the group's leader and a prolific poet:

The Ogdoad are known for their war against the Entity and their sibling, but the "last straw" for their work in the cosmos was their battle against Olyxes, surnamed Okyulomazda (All-Seeing Infernal Majesty) by devotees, a universe-ending parasite who was the Entity's strongest soldier before it was killed.

When assuming a physical planet-consuming form, the size of a mountain, it looked like a nightmare from a shattered mind:

"On three hundred pairs of bat-like wings it flies,
A death-black creature with nine rear legs, each leg
Having five toes with a sharp steel talon, and
Two tails, each tipped with a curved scorpion's barb.
The hellhound has fifty dog heads, each head with
Nine mouths, six snake tongues, three rows of shark teeth and
Four hundred glowing blue eyes. The front of the
Monster's body consists of twelve tentacle
Forelegs, each leg with thirty clawed eagles' toes.
Six snarling cats' heads ring the giant's waist, each

And eighty thousand pairs of sharp fangs. From its
Shoulders sprout a hundred lizard heads, each head
With four orange eyes. All along the brute's spine
Are two hundred heads of leopards, lions, bulls,
Boars, bears, goats, wolves and tigers, each of these heads
With thirty brown eyes. It spews flames from each mouth."

The battle with this parasite took a toll on them and they decided to "retire", focusing on smaller planetary conflicts instead. During this period they became known to humans and other lower species like Krillians.

In time Corigon went to an unknown planet and hid themselves, and Jelin and Wandolin died. No one knows what happened to the others.

Before their disappearance they devised the Music of the Spheres to keep the Entity and their sibling at bay. The idea was proposed by Muril, and is their last resort.
