Taranis is a god amongst gods, an imposing figure that is respected and feared in equal measure by the rest of The Nine. His avatar takes the form of a hulking human warrior with faint scars across his face, with a bushy beard and a voice that booms like a distant hurricane. Gripped within his calloused hands, crackling with lightning, is the mighty hammer Wonungar, which houses the soul of a Titan of the same name, who is said to be the one that gave the Thunderer his scars in the first place.

Worshippers of Taranis come in many shapes and sizes, from berserkers to sages, but his favor is especially sought after by those who traverse the Sea of Tears or make a living upon its waters. Many bards sing his praises, weaving stories of his greatness into prayers, while fishermen sacrifice goats in hopes to appease his divine wrath. It is truly unknown whether the Thunderer actually answers these prayers or not, for the sea and sky remain implacable, with or without the libation of mortals.

As master of the wind and rain, Taranis holds a significant place in the natural world. His presence can be felt in the perpetually overcast skies that loom over Craven’s streets, or in the stormy weather that rolls through the Isles in the springtime. To his followers, he is a source of strength and courage in the face of hardship. To his enemies, however, the Thunderer represents a merciless and unstoppable force of nature that will destroy anybody (whether mortal or immortal) that dares to cross him.
