Liber Malus, The Mind of Madness

Liber Malus is a member of the Dark Cosmos, and the god of fear, madness, and forbidden knowledge. Liber Malus takes the form of a strange, gray-skinned humanoid with thin feathery wings on his back. It has no face, or discernable gender, and communicates by speaking directly into the minds of others. It's voice is discordant and grating, and while different emotions can be heard in its tone of voice, the only physical reactions it displays are the flashing lights on its head and body. The god performs a variety of seemingly nonsensical and bizarrely violent experiments, all with the purpose of uncording what it refers to as the "Final Theory", though what this theory is, and what it is about remain unknown.

Liber Malus draws its power from the fear of the unknown. It represents the dangers and threats that can come from a lack of knowledge, and especially the fear of what the future may hold. Followers of Liber Malus work to spread paranoia, and to break down trust between different people and nations. They work to unleash ancient evils sealed away in the past, reconstruct lost weapons of great power, and do whatever they can to spread chaos and fear. The Lands Below and the many forgotten dangers that dwell there serve as a common source of fear for Liber Malus to feed on, and one of its favorite methods of spreading fear is to try and take the horrors of the Lands Below, and to try and bring them to the Lands Above.

Many of its mortal followers are insane scientists and inventors, so desperate to complete their work or solve some mystery that they no longer care about the repercussions of whatever it is they wish to unleash. Sometimes they do not even know they have become servants of Liber Malus, as it will disguise itself and cryptically provide inspiration in their dreams, slowly pushing them to take their research in a direction that benefits its goals. Those who do move on from this state to become fully devoted worshippers of Liber Malus continue to take their experiments further, gaining as much knowledge as they can in service of their god.

Followers of Liber Malus are to seek out lost knowledge, and to use that knowledge to spread chaos throughout the world. It is very important that followers record the information they find, so it can be accessed by other followers and used where it can have the greatest effect.
