The Natural Disasters #2: The Flight

General Summary

The group quickly packs their gear and heads onward. They spend a few days travelling not suffering too much from dangers or anything else. Overall, it is a peaceful journey for many days. However, on the day they are to arrive in Daggerford, they hear a screech from behind them. They look back to see a large bird, about 40 feet wide and similarly built in height, covered in eyes, careening towards them. It looked slightly emaciated and from its screeches, it seemed hungry.
The group rides on their horses attempting to run from the large creature whilst those who are ranged attempt to shoot the bird in their escape. With each shot from Remington's gun, the creature is thrown backwards. However, as the horses tire, and the bird comes closer, Hope decides to hop off her horse and charge the beast, throwing her javelins at it. Everyone returns to fight the creature, and Arnold is knocked down and the beast begins to carry him away. However, as the beast attempts to escape, the attacks from everyone on the ground, slays the creature, forcing it to crash to the ground with Arnold in hand.
As the party uses all the strength to pry the beast off of Arnold, they see a bloody mess as his unconscious body lies on the ground. Immediately, Kriv gets to work, healing Arnold, at which he coughs up blood, awaking alive.
The group then carves into the beast taking different components of it as trophies for the massive creature they felled. After this, they travel on, passing through many small towns in the region of Daggerford. Once they reach the castle, they see a line of people waiting to enter, akin to that of Waterdeep but on a smaller scale. Oddly enough, there seem to be no poxguard or destgaurd present, just armed militiamen set to guard the walls.
As the party waits in line to enter the city, a person bumps into Hope whilst wearing a hood and continues on. When no one responds, she turns around and reveals herself to be identical to Hope before continuing through the line and entering Daggerford.
As the party enters, they realize that Daggerford is having a festival. It seems that a Debaucherous Ring with a connection to the Black Lotus flower is in the town. The entire party splits to acquire supplies and Hope enters a shaded area with a sign of a beer out front to escape the rain. Inside she sees an ostentatiously dressed man behind a counter. In the corner stands a man at arms, dressed completely in black aside from the red smile, painted across the helmet.
