The Natural Disasters #16: That Which Takes Life

General Summary

The Natural Disasters find themselves in battle as Bears whip warns them of the ambush. Standing there is the Banderhobb they previously faced. However, as the fight continues, it soon becomes apparent that there were some mercenary-like soldiers of darkness and a strange-faced giant hound as well. As the mercenaries were killed, it was found that they burst into light upon death.
In the fight, the banderhobb was soon slain by the party and the sun rose on the valley, but the hound was in a dome of darkness and three of the mercenaries remained. In the end, two of the mercenaries escaped, and the hound jumped out of the darkened dome and vanished. 
Thus, with the creature dead and the sun shining down, the darkness was abated. It became strange to them realizing that the mercenaries had some stake in stopping the party from achieving their goal. Then, the characters began climbing up the valley.
In the time that they climb up the valley, the scene jumpcuts to Artemis's perspective. The faithful mount is startled by the sudden shriek of a horse as a blade penetrates it. Artemis now sees a darkened creature standing over its corpse. The creature tries to calm Artemis, but instead, Artemis charges and tramples the creature as it astonishingly bursts into light that burns Artemis and one of the mount's charges.
Then, the Natural Disasters arrive, mount the surviving creatures, and Nix summons a mount for Kriv to ride, and they all travel towards Elturel.
