Palace of the Final Building / Landmark in The Realms | World Anvil

Palace of the Final

The Palace of the Final is thus named because it appears to be the center of power in the capital of the Final Realm. With all maps of the Final Realm and its capital either falling apart or nonexistent, not to mention the language barrier, most names had to be made from guesswork and are vague as a result, as the denizens of the Final Realm appear to have liked flowy names, or their language was.

Purpose / Function

The current purpose of the Palace is as a base of operations for Cait Monarch, the leading Adventurers' Guild in the Final Realm. It houses most of the educators, the explorers and the Trading Guilds. While it does contain the ruling body, it is not the place they live in, many of they having homes in the city proper.

Alterations

Many of the ballrooms of the Palace have been transformed into either classrooms or marketplaces, while others have turned into dorms. Several of the rooms closest to the ground have been transformed into a smithy, an alchemists' room and other hubs for professions.   Because of this, the Palace is more of the hub of the capital then where a ruling body resides. It also offers a far greater selection of goods then most markets, due to the capital being a hub of portals to all the thirteen other Realms.

History

Any history of the Palace pre-Convergence is nonexistent, as there are none alive who have ever been in the Final Realm in that timeframe. Post-Convergence, it has been the hub of explorations, the Guilds, and a site of contestation. It has passed from hand to hand as the state of the Realm changed, until it ended up back in the hands of Cait Monarch for the last two hundred years.
