Grandmaster of the Guild Rank/Title in The Realms | World Anvil

Grandmaster of the Guild

A Grandmaster is the ultimate authority in a guild, similar to a king or queen. They plan what the goal of the guild are, how they are to do them, give advice to the newcomers of a Guild and deal with issues that arise between members. While this may seem like a lot of work and responsibility, of Grandmasters of smaller guilds, numbering anywhere between 5 to 30 people, it is far more manageable then it is for Grandmasters of massive guilds that number greater than 100.   For Grandmasters of larger guilds, they will often assign people to manage different parts of their responsibilities. When issues arise in the areas these larger guilds have claimed, it is the Grandmaster who meditate between the parties or plan a 'Raid' to deal with the creatures or organizations causing the issues. Grandmasters also decide whether or not to allow a smaller guild to operate in the guild's territory as an affiliate.   If the Guild falls from grace, it is reflected on the Grandmaster. Dealt with correctly, this means that if the parties are removed and punished swiftly and appropriately, the Grandmaster is lauded and considered to be a hero. Done wrong, the Guild as a whole may dissolve or simply remove the Grandmaster to preserve itself.

Qualifications

A Grandmaster of the Guild is, in essence, the Guildmaster. As such, the only one who qualifies is the leader of the Guild.

Requirements

There are very few requirements to be a Grandmaster: they must be the Guildmaster, appointed or founder, and they must have the support of most of the Guild.

Appointment

How grand the appointment to Grandmaster is depends on the Guild. For some, it is a simple process of signing paperwork, for others it is a grand production on the level of crowning a ruler. The smaller, more personal guilds treat appointment as a party, pulling together to celebrate the growth of their Guild.
