Attempted Governmental Takeover

The Final Realm has gone through much upheaval in the time since the Convergence. Establishing settlements, protecting settlements and creating a nation was not an easy task, especially considering how hostile the Realm itself proved to be. But not all dangers came from the unexplored wilds of the Realm. Easily the most dangerous moment in the fledgling Realm's history can from the other Realms.   In 515 AC, Cait Monarch, although still going by Cait Fel at the time, established the District Council of Sylcyne. In absence of anything resembling a ruling family and no desire to create one, it was decided that the people would have a voice in the choosing of representatives. They did not expect outside interference.   Ebony Sorrow, having recently been ousted from Askus, saw this as a chance to regain it's recently lost power, even in a different Realm. Hellguard, a driving force in Phasmye, saw it as a chance to spread it's influence into the Final Realm, having already spread to several others. With such differing goals, it turned into a battle not between two sides, but rather three.   Both of the outside Guilds sought to influence the results of the appointment, threatening and bargaining with select candidates. They managed to stay out from the notice of Cait Fel, who had chosen to be as hands-off as possible, until Ebony Sorrow assassinated one of the candidates. It isn't known if this was one of the candidates that they were controlling or if they just happened to gain information about their deals, but it was the mistake that caught Cait Fel's attention.   It only took a few days of investigation before the outside agents were discovered, having not yet adapted to the unique blend of cultures that was the Realm. It only took a few more days for the Guild to round them all up, the ease attributed to the much larger influence the Guild had compared to the individuals. Hellguard's members were sent back to Phasmye and it took many decades for anything close to a cordial relationship to come from it.   Ebony Sorrow's assassins, on the other hand, were offered to the recovering Askus. Most of them were already considered fugatives and the new leader took them gladly, eagar to bring them to justice, not just for the crimes performed in the Final Realm, but also to the people of Askus.
