The Mongrel Kingdoms
'Welcome to the Mongrel Kingdoms. Here, you're finally free.' - Arthark, guardsmanThe Ales Empire has suffered only one major military defeat in its long history - the Coastal Rebellion. Beginning a minor slave rebellion by slaves in fishing villages on the west coast, it quickly swelled into a rebellion engulfing almost all of the Ales Empire's western territories, ending in their independence from the Ales Empire. The liberated areas quickly came to a strange sort of communal anarchy - the Mongrel Kingdoms. The Mongrel Kingdoms consists of a group of largely independent kingdoms, tribes, and city-states, though they all swear to defend the other members of the Kingdoms, if any are in danger of being overtaken. Despite many border skirmishes, they have remained free of the control of both the Ales Empire and the Mortal Kingdoms for centuries now.
Demography and Population
The Mongrel Kingdoms have the largest population of what are sometimes considered the 'lesser' or 'barbaric' races - the orcs, gnolls, centaurs etc., though it is likely the most diverse area in the world.
Foreign Relations
Relations with the Ales Empire and Mortal Kingdoms have been tense for centuries, but they are yet to erupt into war.
