The Divines Character in THE REALMS OF LUA | World Anvil
So much passion. And hubris. To think, that if you just yell loud enough you can command a god.
Prophetess Lylah Lefade
In traditional D&D settings, the “Gods” are beings of absolute authority, each with its own portfolio that encompasses their ideals, traits, flaws, and everything in-between such as a god of battle, the sea, etc... In Lua, there are no “gods”, instead, the divine beings are each their own manifestation of the abstract concepts that the Weave of Time is composed of. Such as Mythaal, who is the embodiment of and has all control over, Creation within the Realms or Talia, who is the personification of Oblivion--the nothingness from which everything came and will eventually return to.   Each of the Divine beings (except for Elise) has a counterpart, and in some cases, is the opposite side of the same coin to another, that work both together and against one another in order to keep the Weave of Time in balance. The Divine beings, while near-omniscient and near-omnipotent, are slaves to the Weave, each of them carrying out their parts in the predetermined tapestry that comprises each Age of the Realms.

The Vethari

The Vethari are the abstract concepts within the Weave of Time. These beings of great power were created by the One to govern the Weave. Each divine was given mastery over one of the threads of the Weave, influencing that aspect of time of which they embody. After the creation of the Weave, many of the Vethari descended into it, while others were born from the weave itself, to guide and order its growth; their duty to construct time into the predetermined tapestry of each age.   The Vethari once walked Lua where everything lived in blissful harmony, but since the breaking of the world, they have left the mortal realm and returned to their thrones atop the Golden City. Their influence in the realms can still be felt, however, evidence by special people that one day become favored souls.

The Original Spirits

The Original Spirits are transcendent beings completely outside of and beyond Time, though only Anu and Be’lal still exist in their original forms. Anu, Be’lal, and Aya, through their interplay, would become responsible for the creation of all things from the Reservoir, a source of power that sustains the Weaving of Time, to the Ehnerbe itself, and the angelic beings who would be born from Time; the Vethari.   Virtually nothing is known of the Three Original Spirits, even their names are debated among scholars and Religions alike, and as such, they aren’t worshipped like most of the Vethari. Those who do worship do so on their own accord and through their own research of ancient texts and legends. They don’t interfere in mortal affairs and cannot bear Prophets or Avatars, although some legends dispute this claim, such as the belief that Be’lal was the cause for Sin to be born in the Realms.
