Sakura Onsen Building / Landmark in The Realms Beyond | World Anvil

Sakura Onsen

At the edge of the California coast lies Sakura Onsen, a Japanese Spa. It often feels out of place, the building looking like something pulled out of an ancient Japanese town. There’s a spiritual aura that one feels whenever they pass the building, as if beckoning them to enter.   Upon entering, you’ll be met with the scent of cherry blossoms, and the beautiful sounds of live Koto and Bamboo Flute players, which resonates all throughout the spa. Wood and stone are used to imbue a natural aesthetic, and the Japanese designs throughout transport you to another world, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You relax the moment you set foot in there, and all your worries wash away, almost as if magic. Mostly because a magical spell is laced through the wood and stone of the building, that washes away all the stresses of the mind as soon as you enter, and even well after you leave. Perhaps that’s why it’s been named one of the top spas in the city.
Japanese style hot springs can be found indoors and outdoors, some covered in flower petals and oils to soothe the soul. Cherry blossoms seem to grow both indoors and outdoors, helped by spring court’s magic. With beautiful relaxing vistas to see, it’s no wonder most don’t want to ever leave the hot springs. But if one wishes, massages, soothing stones and holistic relaxing techniques can be asked for upon request in private rooms.   In one of the pools, deep in the building, lies a small waterfall. Behind this waterfall, a secret pool lit by a dull glow. Within the pool, a portal that connects to the Winter Realm’s hot springs.
