Karst

Karst is a large mountain pass that cuts through the end of the Colossus Mountains, with a small valley in the middle that has enough space to sustain a population through almost the entirety of the 2nd Age. To survive this harsh environment, the original people of Karst used methods of horticulture to turn the baren landscape into one that was full of wild food growing anywhere it could take hold. The new capital city of the Grand Republic of Durham, Ottoheim  was constructed in the Karst, and since that time the lands had seen more terrforming to provide immediate food sources to sustain the large population in the new capital city.
