Belum

Belum is a town that sit's upon the Jarren river just inside the Anorian Empire, near the border with the Grand Republic of Durham. The towns roads and walkways pass over the river time and time again, and it's waters are uses to transport people all around the town. Belum is the last major trading stop along the Jaren river, and because of this many traders who look to supply the interior of the Anorian Empire seek to do their business in Belum.

Demographics

Belum is one of the larger towns in Jarrenvale, and because of this has a more diverse population than can be found in the rest of the region. There is a large portion of humans and elves that make up the city as well as a distinct quarter populated by many tieflings.

Government

Belum is ruled over by an Imperial Governor who oversees all of the affairs of the empire inside of Jarrenvale. Being somewhat secluded from the centralized hierarchy of the Anorian Empire, Belum is unlike many of other Anorian town's in that the laws here are much less strictly enforced than in other areas. A small garrison of Imperial Soldiers is stationed in the town, but they are in Belum mainly to warn the empire if there is ever an invasion by the republic across the Genesian border.

History

Belum started as a small fishing village, and remained that way for many years. The constant wars that ravaged the regions around the Genesis Lake prevented any growth from happening in the area, and belum was even destroyed several times. The current town itself has existed for over two hundred years, and has been able to thrive in an era of relative peace between the Anorian Empire and The Grand Republic of Durham.
