Automated Terraforming Engines

Terraforming a world is a huge endeavour, and was a staple practice of the frontier right up until the Scream. Although the advent of the Jump Gates brought human expansion to stars without number, the reality of space is that garden worlds that require little adaptation to make habitable are the exception, not the rule.   In 2308, in the Astrus Plex sector, Endross Combine Incorporated deployed their first successful test of their new Automated Terraforming Engine on the planet Horizon. Constructed in 0g , the colossal foundries require specially designed slowboat carriers and when deployed cover the same square footage of a small city. Designed, automated and infused with psychic energy these ATEs (or Attees, as they are lovingly called) take the natural development process of planets and reduce it from millions years to mere centuries. Each ATE is specially designed for the world it was planned to be put on because the psychic overseeing its construction and programming it's systems planned for the various future requirements the planet would require.   ATEs can't alter a planet's natural progression, which is to say that they can only create garden worlds out of worlds that are destined to become one. This pregonative targeting of future garden worlds requires the use of powerful psychics to reach into the future and find the right planets.
