01: The Karma Sets Sail
General Summary
Aboard Hoff Station
The crew helps their new Medical Officer, Airik, settle onto the ship. CPT Kalvin discusses job opportunities with the crew, and they accept a shipment of raw minerals; deliverable to Grune Felder. Additionally, Major was able to convince a local, Stevie, to hold down another job to investigate a point of interest in the Graveyard of Giants.
The crew went out for drinks before setting off on their job. They ran into the crew of the Cryptic Dragon, a ship they have a friendly rivalry with. Major discovered that Stevie went behind his back and gave the job details to the Cryptic Dragon for a better cut of the reward. CPT Stockholm of the Cryptic Dragon agreed to give The Karma a small "finder's fee" cut of their reward in a gesture of goodwill.
In Cameron's Pass
A power coupling on the outside of the ship began to malfunction while the ship was underway to the edge of the system. CPT Kalvin and Solomon Bishop suit up and spacewalk the exterior to repair the power coupler. The ship began rotating at a steadily accelerating pace causing issues with the cargo hold. The crew was eventually able to repair the power coupling, while preventing any loss of cargo.
CPT Kalvin was found dead in the crew quarters shortly following the incident. Airik was able to determine that he died from a brain aneurysm, likely brought on by the stresses of the centrifugal force outside of the ship.
