Eragon - Book Cover Redesign

This was created as a student project during my time at Longwood University.
The challenge this project was created for called for the re-imagining of the cover of a novel at least 15 years old, aimed at a modern audience. I chose to redesign the cover of Eragon, a middle grade fantasy novel by Christopher Paolini about a boy who discovers a dragon egg.
Although the original cover's traditional illustration is beautiful, I felt that a vectored illustration might be more approachable to a modern audience. I wanted to include multiple characters, items, and locations from the story in the design. The final result was a landscape from the story silhouetted in the figure of the main character.
In addition to the paperback cover/dust jacket, I also created a design for the hard cover underneath the dust jacket.
