Universal Translators
Universal translators are some of the greatest and most useful devices to enter the galactic ecosystem. Designed by the Sani'Tonians, universal translators are affixed to one's auditory processing system (such as an ear) and can translate the spoken language of any alien in the Pontision System. This device can not only translate the literal interpretation of different alien languages, but can also translate cultural sayings, mottos, references and the like to equivalent sayings in the user's native tongue. However, there are still certain words or phrases that may not have easy translations, and in those cases the translator will not alter the language of the speaker in any way. The vast majority of galactic residents will have a universal translator, and it can be widely assumed that everyone you talk to is able to understand what you are saying unless they have a specific reason not to wear a translator.
The Sani'Tonians originally designed these devices because of their struggle to communicate with the Mundians after they had first reached out. Due to Sani'Tatem's society being built upon a history of oral tradition and their resistance to developing a written language, overcoming a language barrier with them was exceedingly difficult for the Mundians. Despite the two species eventually finding a way to communicate, the Sani'Tonians knew that if they were to retain their culture while still joining The Web they would have to find a way to talk to the other aliens. Thus, they gathered their top scientists, engineers and scholars to create the universal translators, a device that every species would benefit from. Despite this, Sani'Tonians have recently begun recording parts of their culture for the first time.
