The Miserly Ones

A Telean syndicate of organised crime, The Miserly Ones are one of the largest and oldest criminal groups within The Web. They have their origins in the Melliferan Hive, and quickly spread throughout Telea to the point wherein they had their fingers in every major Telean settlement. Their name was originally an insult that the Council of Queens branded them with, but The Miserly Ones took it in stride and made the name their own.
The Miserly Ones primarily engage in drug trafficking and violent crimes. They are even believed to have incited riots within Telean Hives and brought Cuckoo Queens into prominence. Each location is led by a worker Bee; and their offspring comprise the majority of their sect of the syndicate. These sects are referred to as gangs, and are designated based on which Hive they originate from (e.g. The Miserly Ones in New Formica would be referred to as the New Formica Gang). In this way, they operate much like a microcosm of the True Hives' political structure. Ever since the construction of The Web, they have expanded their reach to an intergalactic scale, bringing their violent and destructive ways into the galactic ecosystem. Evidence suggests that they have an entire fleet of ships at their disposal, though no one knows where these ships are stored.
