Talsyk
When our ancestors first came to the Brumel, it was viewed as a stark, unwavering place. It's sheets of ice and harsh winters were something to be overcome, and nothing else. I'm sure that many thought that once the War ended, they'd all leave the place and never look back, let alone return. Even the tribes that have lived here for milenia, like the Brui, view it more as something that they battle against. The snapping wolf of cold, and cutting pangs of hunger. Talsyk was the first to see the true beauty that could be found in the Brumel. Their artists painted wonderful landscapes that turned it's starkness and emptiness into statement on being lonely, and on the alleviation of that loneliness. Their songweavers pulled threads from all walks of life, refugee peoples and native peoples alike, creating songs that spoke to the hearts of all that attempted to make a life in the Brumel, or other lands just as harsh. They remain that heart to this day, acting as a warm spot in our heart and reminding us that while it may be hard living here, it is not any layer of the hells made manifest. It is our home, and home it shall remain.
Talksyk is the heart and soul of the Tsarinate, and has been for half a millenia. It is a confluence of art and culture the likes of which aren't found anywhere else within the Tsarinate. It is of middling size Autumnlands , and is largely undeveloped with few natural resources to exploit within it's borders, but that matters not. When Talsyk is mentioned, people are often only thinking of Charlême, it's capital city. Within Charlême's ancient walls, several schools of the arts ply their trade. Musicians, painters, myraid fine crafters, and poets all frequent the city from all across the Tsarinate. The artists that enter the city, and the art that leaves it, has directed the core of culture across the Tsarinate as well as fads for centuries. It could be argued that Talsyk is an integral part of the bond between the nations of the Tsarinate, by developing (intentionally or not) the internal culture of each nation. A skillful weaving of artistic tradition, history, and modern culture to produce works that speak to the very heart of those that live in the Brumel.
Military
Given the fact that the population is small in Talsyk, as well as the fact that a large persentage of that already small population is dedicated to jobs that prop up the economy, the military of Talsyk has suffered.
They have few soldiers, and to put constription in place would likely cause the economy to crumble, if not collapse. The nation has been, historically, been cognisant of this fact and their perseption as artists, who most would not consider valorus, and as such have taken steps to put protections in place. What little armed force they can muster from their own population is bolstered by auxilaries drawn from volunteers originating from the nomad tribes that live within Talsyk borders.
A distinction is made between these volunteers, who are essentially mercenaries, from the actual mercenary companies that the Talsyk military employs, due to the nomads ties to the land of talsyk. Mercenaries are mercenaries, wherever they come from.
Talsyk also maintains a core elite of soldiers, similar to the practices of Seronda, though Talsyk couldn't possibly afford to arm their soldiers in the same fashion.
