The Wish, the Elixir, and the Philosophy
An old wives tale turned into a book from the southern regions of the Veritian Leaf. There have been three editions of it in print, the first edition being much sought after by those who believe in the legitimacy of the text and want to find the secrets of life as well.
Purpose
It was a book written for children, the moral lesson obscured by time. Now it is simply an interesting tale of a Veritian.

Historical Details
Background
The tale is based off of a real man and hero of the Veritian Leaf, though his heroism of rejecting temptation meant that there was not much evidence for his existence.
Legacy
While the veracity of the tale and its study goes out of fashion quite often, like other heroic tales there are reemergences that occur. The most significant period was the 1040-1130 period, for the scholars actually found the creatures of myth, the Wish and the Philosophy. Both led to tragedy, as those who discovered them were not as self-controlled as Laern. For the Wish, one must simply look at the fall of the house of Salmonpuddle in Tumult, and the Philosphy must simply study the destruction of the Lesvetter. There is also a guild called the Ratcatchers who scour Elven towers for the Elixir.
