The Wish

The Wish was a genie living in a lamp hidden away in the Bone Mountains of the Dormant Lands. He is best known for his appearance in The Wish, The Elixir and the Philosophy, though his existence was much in doubt. He perished after granting the wishes of Tomias Flitterfoot at the hands of a group of adventurers. He was instrumental to the death of Lord Kourend Salmonpuddle.

Personal history

Originally from Neih Orcus, the leaf where the orc hale from on the same branch as the Veritian Leaf. He was born from a ritual where an orc shaman gave up his soul to a primordial power of Fall. He lived a tyrant on that leaf for several centuries before another orc shaman came and trapped him in a lamp. He was brought the Veritian Leaf during the nomadic wanderings of the orc, as Neih Orcus was one of the first leaves to fall to the Dormant. In the Dormant Lands, the lamp was hidden in a cave by a greedy shaman in the Bone Mountains. The shaman later died, but not before placing terror in the hearts of his fellow orcs about the lamp. There it hid for many years.
Only two people ever found the lamp. One was Laern, an adventurer searching for a way to resurrect his daughter. The Wish offered his power, being maddened by loneliness and willing to do anything to be free. Laern rejected the Wish, seeing the madness in him and leaving him in his prison.
The second was Tomias Flitterfoot, an equally mad gnome who came specifically to get the Wish's power. Tomias had learned of the Wish via the book The Wish, The Elixir, and the Philosophy after he stumbled upon an Seer's Sight Warlock serial killer who believed the work to be true. Tomias was a man shunned, desperate to avenge himself against the love that spurned him and the man who stole her. Together with the wish, they sought out to kill Kourend Salmonpuddle.
This brought the Wish and Tomias to Dusk in the height of the Demon Troubles, where Tomias wishes backfired spectacularly. The first wish was for Nymira to break Kourend's heart, which severed Kourend's connection to Balmerrait, a devastating attack, but one that did not help Tomias' revenge whatsoever. The second was for Tomias and Nymira to be one for eternity. As souls are tethered to the Path of Veritas, this wish caused Neih to interfere. Neih placed them all inside the genie's lamp, so that the damage would not hurt Veritas. Also, the wish turned Tomias and Nymira into an abomination which went mad. Neih strategically (and for his own entertainment) a group of adventurers with them to stop the threat. The final wish, which occurred after Nymira was killed by the group and Tomias was near death, was that Kourend Salmonpuddle would die, which saw Kourend turn to dust in front of everyone. With that achieved, Tomias walked off the edge of the platform they stood on, falling into the nether of the pocket dimension to his death.
The Wish, as his master was fighting Kourend, was engaged with the rest of the party. He eventually was slain, which saw the whole pocket dimension begin to cave in. The party escaped via a pendant leading to the Veritian Leaf's Hall of Seasons.
