Oriaphilactory

Oriaphilactories are large pink crystals that grow sparsely all over the lands of the archfey the Duke of Oriaphia. While many believe they were created by the Duke, this is not completely accurate. Their current state is due to his fey magics, but their origin is more elemental than fey. During the Summer, the base of the tree is quite barren as the cosmic tree absorbed most the water to create its continental leaves. Thus, it became a realm for earth elementals. Sometimes, seeds of these elemental rocks are sucked up to the leaves above. One such rock grew to become Oriaphia, and the Duke grafted pieces of it throughout his forest. They work as boundary markers, places to store treasure or prisoners, and at times are simply traps for curious fey. The denizens of the Duke know not to touch them, for the building sized crystal golems are not to be triffled with.
