Letter to Kourend Salmonpuddle

To Lord Salmonpuddle   You may be wondering where that wizard’s precious little book has gone. Do not worry, it is in my possession. It was not very difficult to track down this criminal for a detective such as myself. I had the case solved within the day, but I saw an opportunity that I just had to take, one to get my vengeance on you.   You took her from me. You told me she was dead, and I foolishly believed your lies. I thought you a dirty ranger of no import, but you were one of those hellish nobles. I cannot even image what evil machinations you have for her. You are probably after her treasure, like all the other nobles pestering her. But I saw the way she looked at you at the ball, and I knew I had lost her.   For days I planned ways to destroy you. There was a moment of hope for me when the army raided your estate, but that hope was snuffed by your coterie of allies. Not only that, but you also became a hero of the city during the attack on the Silvergrafts. To kill you then would be no victory. You would have died a martyr. And I doubt my singular skill in blades would be able to defeat the army that increases daily around you. No, I needed another power. Then I found this book.   To be honest, I thought it but a fable, but the wizard found hints of its legitimacy. The powers this book speaks of exists still to this day. I feigned a partnership with the rogue mage in order to learn of what he knows, then set in motion the means for ending that partnership with your help. Hopefully this letter finds you after the wizard breathed his last.   Thank you for helping me bring about your demise. I will find the wish, the elixir and the philosophy, and with it get my desire.   You may be wondering why I am telling you this. I want you to know that my revenge is coming. Anticipate it, fear it. I have a fate worse than death in the works just for you. Catch me if you can.   Tomias Flitterfoot

Letter to Kourend Salmonpuddle by his killer Tomias Flitterfoot, year 1040.
