Kalethorn Nur
Kalethorn Nur is the son of Malvo and Neveah Nur. He was also the heir apparent for the dukedom of Oriaphia during the 1040s, succeed the trials of succession and becoming the Duke of Oriaphia in the year 1050. As Duke, he sought to expand his power and make the name Kalethorn renowned throughout the leaf. He thus joined the wood elves of Dakath's fight against Dakath. He also did it because he was heavily influenced by his patron the Dread Sin of Vengeance, using his tragic childhood as a bastard to fuel his anger. His aid was so helpful that the elves of Memore opted to make him the leader of their new nation, the Shogunate of Eastern Dakath.
The war of independence lasted from 1057-1092, with the Shogun pushing the high elves of Dakath to their shore cities of the Tower of Dakath, Flef, and Tulip. The nations of Tumult, the SPN, and the Church got involved at this point for various reasons of safety, justice, and economics. They were able to convince Kalethorn of a ceasefire, in which the shogun accepted the terms of pulling back the boundary lines of his new nation to the treeline of the Eastern Fey Wilds. Unbeknownst to the foreign powers was that they called Kalethorn's bluff. Is forces, though likely to win the war, did not have the means to hold onto that territory for long. It was too costly a victory, and pulling back was the better move. Kalethorn returned to his new capitol, New Nur, where he built his palace and plotted his next moves.
In 1102, the Eternal Empire tested the Shogun's mettle. The Empire underestimated how war ready the Shogunate was, and their months of battle led to a harsh stalemate. And, as soon as they sent their secret weapon, a gargantuan city busting robot, the Winter Contingency hit and they had to surrender. Making the best out of the surrender, he welcomed the Monkey division into his numbers, all being forgiven. His forces bolstered with new tech and numbers, Kalethorn spent a decade rebuilting his army for his next attempt on unifying all of Dakath under him.

Personal history
Kalethorn is a half-elf born in Dakath to a noble Dakathian family, thus he is a pariah in his family. He did not meet his father until he was eight, but his mom told him that he was a conman from Contact and that he should not seek him out. Kalethorn did not heed that warning, always holding in his heart that his father was someone special. That hope was created by an upbringing of rejection, as his mother remarried and his half-siblings also grew to reject him. When he was seven, the Nur family figured they would send the boy as the Dakathian tribute to Oriaphia to take the trials of inheritance. This was a suicide mission, so it was well known that Kalethorn would not be returning. But, Neveah convinced her brother Ferel Nur to guard her son. But hope was slim.
Kalethorn grew to love Oriaphia, as the fey welcomed the little lad. Even the archfey, the Duke, grew fond of the little elf's tenacity. He surpassed expectations and completed three of the trials of inheritance. Even the other contender, a Dormant Cultist going by the name of Dorothy Luck (though he was actually one of the heads of Ghidorah, Ni) was losing to the child. For a period, the boy would be always at the knee of the Duke.
In 1041, two representatives from Tel'ul visited Oriaphia, Elias Meadowgrove and Pops. They sought aid in the defense against the Dormant advance. While the Duke had no horse in that race, this visit led to Malvo learning of his son's whereabouts. Though he did not straight out seek his son, he started a communiqué with him and his mother as he began to ease his way into his life again. But when the Dormant marched on Tel'ul, Malvo made one more attempt to call for aid by sending a letter to Kalethorn.
This letter was intercepted by Ni, a Dormant informant. Though he knew not what relationship the two had, he used it to the Dormant's advantage. He replied to Malvo that he held his son captive. This blackmail brought Malvo to Oriaphia to rescue his son. He killed Ni and went to Kalethorn.
But the Duke saw all this happening and more, and saw it as an opportunity to refine his protégé. Malvo had made a previous deal with the devil Vengeance, a relationship he had been neglecting for a while. Vengeance was keen to have his blood. The Duke, though a lesser being than Vengeance, manipulated the whole thing so that Kalethorn could gain power. While he was intelligent and creative, Kalethorn had no innate magical potential. The Duke wished to change this. So he offered Vengeance an opportunity to do what he will with Kalethorn. It was a risky gambit, one he betted his most promising candidate. But the Duke is a capricious being, loving the gamble.
Kalethorn was given to Vengeance. Since he was innocent, Vengeance could do nothing to him until his father arrived. When Malvo showed up, Vengeance put the assassin on trial. His past crimes came out of the tar around him to drag him to his death. His son was so close, lying upon an altar, but Malvo chose to flee. That is when Vengeance told Kalethorn, "Behold, your Father."
Kalethorn's hope was broken. He gave into Vengeance becoming a warlock and a much better candidate to the Duke. He went on with the trials with no longer the naivety of a child.
