Renee Agustin

Renee was born a member of the Tenganaw, though she was strange from the beginning. The sixth of a dozen children, she made sense of magic more quickly than any of her siblings, except, perhaps, her older brother, Nick. Nevertheless, she spent little time in the water. Though she enjoyed kayaking up and down the river, she was more interested in exploring the dry world than connecting with her culture and history. Eventually, she got sick of trying to explain her way of life to her family, and left home for good.
Renee's travels brought her to a Seer community, where she met Hugo Augustin, a scholar of an ancient religion. They married and had a child, Tollak, named after the old god of truth. When their second child, Damian, was born, Hugo brought him to the Mistwalkers, as was Seer custom. Furious at losing her child, Renee left the community with Tollak in tow. Though she did not want to face her family's mockery, she returned to the water at last, buying a house on a river, downstream from the community where she was raised. Years later, she and Hugo met again, and decided to try again with the birth of their third child, Hailey.
