The Way of the Spider

Drow (sing & pl; pronounced: /draʊ/ drow or: /droʊ/ dro), also known as dark elves, deep elves, night elves, under-elves, and the Dark Ones among orcs, were a dark-skinned sub-race of elves that predominantly lived in the Underdark. But they had not always lived in the Underdark.

Before Lemurias (Earth)

The drow lived on a planet that was like Arvandor, the planet of the elves. It was their forest planet. They lived in harmony with the forest, like their elven cousins. The drow called their planet Avalonia, a forested planet the size of Jupiter. Here, the drow flourished. They built cities and spread themselves across the planet. However, their idyllic existence – except for wars amongst themselves – was not to last.   A race of humanoid dinosaurs known as the sauros came and started to conquer the planet of Avalonia. They conquered large swaths of territory. And even though the drow armed themselves with all manner of weapons, their fights against them were not to last. Faced with subjugation of their race by the hated suaros, the drow assembled the best and the brightest of their race. They opened the stargate and their race formed a colony on Lemurias. The gate was closed.

Lemurias

Arriving in the dragon mountains, the drow saw the Pelagasiri elves. Faced with a dark-skinned version of themselves, the Pelagasiri elves forced them to flee underground. They have been underground ever since. Creating a small empire underground, the drow spread themselves in twenty cities. Each with the goal to re-create the forests of Avalonia underground.   However, the empire was not to last, as it fell after a thousand years. Now, the empire is fractured into twenty city states. Here, the drow still flourished. Spreading out in the caverns and reforming a second kingdom of drow.

Appearance

The drow appear to be elves with pointed ears. They have dark skin. The males have dark red skin, and the females have dark blue skin. Eye color ranges from blue, to green, to red, to purple. Their bodies averages on the slim side. Although there are overweight drow and corpulent drow. There are also muscular drow as well. Drow hair color ranges from stark white, to light blue, to green, to pink, and purple.

Beliefs

The drow believe in a pair of spider deities. The first is called the Weaver of Life and the Creator of Stories, this spider deity is male. He is also a trickster and a master of illusion and his name is Anansi. So, many drow with magical aptitude study the arts of illusion to be like Anansi. The second spider deity is the spider’s wife, a female spider who is the Weaver of Fate and the Mistress of Patterns. Her name is Ayotunde. According to myth, Anansi taught the drow the way of stories, while Ayotunde taught the drow the way of weaving cloth and other arts of civilization. Many drow believe that both Anansi and Ayotunde created the drow from the first web. Ayotunde weaved bodies for the drow, and Anansi provided their spirits.
