Keepers are the smallest of the three szageki body types.

Responsibilities

Keepers perform maintenance duties such as tending eggs, preparing food, and caring for the sick and wounded.

History

Keepers are most similar to the hive lizard workers. In the first successful colonies to cross the crater rim, queens selected the smallest and least aggressive individuals to do domestic work such as nursing and feeding.

Cultural Significance

The colonies in the northeastern canyons and the tribes in the southwestern desert view keepers in very different light. Keepers are the highest rank in the colonies, where they are most numerous, but lowest in the tribes, where the scarcity of shelter makes them vulnerable to overheating.
