Hunters are the largest of the three szageki body types.  These are the strongest and most aggressive individuals, responsible for hunting and defense.

History

Hunters are closest to the male hive lizard explorers, but are not all male. To support a colony in the arid climate within Neszekotalo Basin, queens had to hatch fertile males and females; the largest of both were assigned to defend the colony and hunt food.

Cultural Significance

In the northeast, hunters are seen as unpredictable and dangerous, and kept away from the innermost areas of the colony. Hunter eggs are allowed to hatch if numbers fall below the required threshold, but are otherwise sacrificed to protect keeper eggs from snakes. By contrast, hunters are the dominant morphology in the tribes of the southwest desert, where a larger body is an advantage to surviving the harsher environment.
