Day of Sorrow

The Day of Sorrow is an Eihlarian tradition, commemorating the anniversary of the destruction of the old Eddy.

History

The Eddy's destruction was observed at the time as a mourning day involving all clans at once, but the anniversary was not observed until the Unity established its presence on Eihlari. The idea was presented at a Wardens' meeting as a way of engaging Eihlarians in a unified but subtle defiance. The observance itself was described to Unity officials as a "remembrance of those lost at sea".

Execution

There is no particular ritual to the Day of Sorrow. Eihlarians go about their lives as normal for the day with two exceptions. First, all clan insignia is covered with deeply-dyed cloths. Second, everyone speaks Common Eihlari regardless of whom they are addressing.
