Session 33: The Castle on the Very Edge of a Terrific Precipice

"So, where is it you hail from, adventurers?"
"I don't know, this isn't part of my backstory yet."

The Wandering Apocalypse finishes up in Argynvostholt, having gone through the old mansion entirely. In the highest tower they find a swirling mass of black mist, radiating feelings of hatred and more angst than a 13-year-old emo kid who just learned of non-conformity. Following a few rounds of groundhog day, they figure out that they're good at dying, and that Argynvost is off to the east. It is in the mansion too that they meet Godfrey Gwilym, a former knight that seems slightly more all there than the others. They've learned that to sanctify the mansion once again they need to place the bones of Argynvost in his tomb.
After discussing for a bit whether they should go climb a mountain, go find an ancient evil temple, or go to the castle they were quite literally invited to, they decide that going to the castle is probably the best call. They come upon a carriage soon after Vallaki, bringing them to the castle. Under the ever-present thunderous clouds they enter the castle, guided into the audience hall by Rahadin, where they meet Strahd von Zarovich. Ireena Kolyana too soon joins them, remaining silent mostly with a tight jaw as she glares daggers at anyone around. The Wandering Apocalypse and Strahd von Zarovich chat a little, before he excuses himself.
