Lydia Petrovna was the husband of Vargas Vallakovich, the mother of Victor Vallakovich, as well as the sister of Father Lucian Petrovich.
At the risk of her own sanity, Lydia Petrovna embraced Vargas Vallakovich philosophy of happiness. She laughed at the baron's every comment, to the extent of it being a well-known nervous reflex. She was well known for holding tea parties with her 'dearest friends', the poorest of Vallaki. These only accepted these invitations begrudgingly, as it was worth suffering the nervous laughter and comments to have a belly full of food.
