Reileni Ethnicity in The Nordhavyn Isles | World Anvil

Reileni

The elders that remembered the Great Exodus would always refer to themselves as Reileni. Where it came from or what it means has been lost. What is known is that this term was used by all who came over The Sea of Lost Hope. Though varied in shape, size and appearance, their unifying aspect was the language and customs they brought with them.   The majority are of human ancestry of a noble sort. Dwarves, elves, halflings, and gnomes also make up these people although in fewer numbers. All are able to quickly adapt to radically different environments. This has been demonstrated over the last 100 years with the number and varied locations of the settlements. They are a skilled people with technical knowledge in the areas of architecture, ship building, mining, animal husbandry, farming, forestry, as well as crafting tools and weapons.   Family and lineage is very important to the Reileni people. Since any history that occurred before the Great Exodus has been lost, the family, kin and clan is all that is known. The idea of continuing a family name is so strong, it has led to the family being such a strong part of society. It is considered a social taboo to not be married and the lack of children in a marriage can only mean a curse from the gods.
