Dante, a Risk-Taking Glaive who Entertains
Dante is a Risk-Taking Glaive who Entertains
Dante is part of the Zarian, a group consisting of some of the greatest talent the ninth world has ever seen. The group was founded by Manias Oracle, who had traveled the world with his spice business, and enjoyed supporting the local dancers, singers, musicians, contortionists and other performers he saw during his travels. After his spice business began to fall apart from a number of irrelevant reasons, he got an idea to put together the ultimate group of talented people and show them off to the world (they say there's nothing like a dying spice business to encourage creative entrepreneurship). Manias started with a small band of musicians, a few dancers, and a contortionist named Dante, and began to book showtimes for the group using his many contacts he'd obtained from the spice business. Eventually, the group grew in diversity, size, and popularity, and became known throughout the world as the Zarian. There's hardly a town or stage that hasn't hosted them before, and their tickets sell like hot cakes.
On one morning, Manias woke up with a letter on his desk from one of his most talented performers that read as follows:
From: Dante
To: Manias Oracle,
I should probably start with the fact that letters are not my forte, but I feel it is the only way to express what I need to say. To put it simply, I am leaving the Zarian, for now, (I probably should have asked you to sit down first before you read that last bit, very sorry if your floor now has a dent).
First things first, this has nothing to do with anything the Zarian or you have done or said, I am simply ready to move on with the next chapter of Dante (me).
When you found me, I was nearly ready to give up all hope. I was broke, naive, and lost in the world. The only thing I had going for my sorry existence was my unnatural flexibility and the few shins I got from when I did street performances. You allowed my talents to fully see their potential, and I will always look back on my days with the Zarian with much pride and happiness.
But now? The excitement of showing the world my talent has been replaced by boredom to be quite frank. I no longer seem to enjoy the shows and the fame as before, because lately, I thirst for adventure! Indeed, I've seen the world, but it's true nature has always been washed out by the flashing lights and drowned out by the cheering crowds. What I really want is to finally experience the world I've only ever seen from the stage.
And, I believe I've found a way to see the world in this way. While we were performing near the Jade Colossus, (before it so rudely disappeared) I found a flyer asking people to join a settlement that had just begun near Northam, (I believe we've done shows in Northam once or twice). I went to the innkeeper that the flyer said to contact for more information, and began asking questions about the settlement's founders. According to said innkeeper, the group that organized the settlement, like myself, has traveled many, many places, but, unlike me, they've battled the beasts, explored the ruins, and spoken with the people they encounter on their journeys. The stage has been fun, but I think it's time I see the world from a new perspective, an adventurer's perspective.
Therefore, I am leaving the Zarian, for now. Will I ever return? It's not completely out of the question, although I have no plans at the moment. Please do not take this the wrong way, I am forever indebted to your kindness and support that you gave me throughout the years, and none of this would ever be possible without you.
Alright, I will cease with the soppiness now.
I wish you and the rest of the Zarian the absolute best of luck, (if you believe in luck) and I will try to keep in touch, (if I can). All the best!
-Dante
P.S. I know you worry about me and my safety, so I wanted you to know that I've reconfigured my two pistols to fire real bullets instead of the fake ones I use in the show! So excited to get to use them on some foul beast!
Also, I made all of us breakfast this morning so I can say goodbye to everyone, it should be ready by the time you've woken up and are now reading this. Hope you like fried Girgenshlought!
