Occult-Tech

Occult-Tech is the fusion of science and sorcery that the Conclave has mastered over the centuries. With it the Magisters have extended their lives by centuries, created formidable soldiers and assassins and the means to pass from Earth to another world.

THE MULTIVERSAL GATE SYSTEM

The Multiversal Gate System is a marvel of technology allowing the Conclave to plunder another world without the monumental costs and lengthy times of space travel. With it access to a whole new world opened up, a potentially limitless supply of resources and territory within reach. For want of a better descriptor, the Conclave chose Otherworld as a catch all term to encompass these worlds.

The Conclave has long been aware of worlds beyond the Earth and how those same worlds have interacted with humanity over the centuries. It is from them that we have legends of the fae realms, heavens and hells and everything in between. That is not to say every legend stems from Otherworld, far from it. And whose to say whether or not those worlds were shaped by the minds of humans? The latter theory is generally regarded as too saccharine and trite to have much credence.

The entire Multiversal Gate System epitomizes the techno-occult mastery of the Conclave. Whilst there exist across Earth many gateways that lead into Otherworld all of them are protected and bound with ancient wards and spells that would limit passage. The MGS gives the Conclave complete control and would allow unrestricted access to and from Otherworld whilst controlling traffic from the other side.

At first there was a single Gate located in Northern Scotland. This out of the way location was chosen for secrecy and to limit the potential risk of cataclysmic failure or invasion from the otherside. But over the years other Gates have been constructed in less out of the way places like London and other major metropolitan areas as the technology was perfected. In the event of an enemy breaching the Gate from the Otherworld side numerous security measures are in place along with detatchments of Praetorians. Should that fail the facilities, invariably hidden deep below ground, are rigged with explosives to destroy them utterly. So far, an attack has not occured.

CONCLAVE STALKER

The preferred tool of the Conclave when faced with threats to their secrecy or when examples need to be made the Stalker is a man or woman of superlative combat and espionage skills augmented with occult-tech. They essentially become killing machines able to pass through seemingly impenetrable defences and take down many times their own number. There are several different varities of Stalker designed for specific purproses. Most look normal and can pass for regular humans but some, the Reaper class, are terrifying skull faced monsters unleashed when the Conclave believes they need to remind people of their power. Every stalker has a built in arsenal from guns to an array of melee weapons and possess augmented skeletons, greatly enhanced strength, speed and rapid healing.

Outside of missions they are kept sedated and live in a drug induced topur that keeps them content until needed wherein combat drugs flood their systems and awaken them for a mission. Perhaps as a result of the strain the occult-tech and drugs have on their bodies few Stalkers last more than five years.

SEERS

For those who possess precognostic abilities a grim fate awaits should the Conclave learn of them. Those identified are taken to a secure facility at a hidden location in Central Europe where they are placed into a system of occult-tech machines and forced to use their abilities to serve the Conclave. The occult-tech enhances their abilities to the extent that they can often see events days before they happen and then quantum computers extrapolate their visions and pass that information on to the Overseers, grim sentinels who watch over the banks of Seers. With that information the Conclave can prepare for potential terrorist attack, unrest and natural disasters accordingly.

Whilst the visions have been used as a tool of oppression many disasters have been averted over the years.
