he Northern White Forest is a boreal forest is in the northern region of the New Realm. The boreal forest circumvents the planet in the northern hemisphere. It is a barren and harsh place that is cold for most of the year.

 

Inhabitants

T

here are no known inhabitants in the Northern White Forest other than wildlife and plant species. However, over the years, some folk have moved to the southern parts of the forest.


Geography

S

ituated in the northern hemisphere of the New Realm, the white forest borders the Realm’s artic tundra. This harsh climate is cold and freezing for most of the year. The climate is so cold that the ground remains frozen permanently. The forest also hosts many lakes, rivers and wetlands, along with treeless areas such as mountain ranges and coastal regions.

]uring the summer months, the days are typically long. This gives the vegetation a chance to regrow before the winter months. However, during the winter, the sun is sparse and there are periods of the year in which the sun does not shine at all. During this time, it remains dark constantly.

 

Evergreen trees such as pine and spruce densely pack many areas of the white forest. It also hosts many lakes, rivers and wetlands that contribute to the ecosystems’ diversity. There are different wildlife creatures that live in the area, including wild bears, foxes, hares, wild birds and fish. The vegetation is hardy in order to endure the cold winters and the animals have thick fur that changes colour throughout the year. During the warm months, animal furs are light brown. During the winter, their fur changes to white. This helps camouflage the animals from predators.

he White Forest is a natural environment that is mostly untouched. Yet, while the area is untouched, the forest goes through a natural disturbance cycle in which the forest is continuously renewing itself. The white forest comprises mostly of young trees as forest fires continuously destroy older trees, making way for the young trees to grow. Insects and disease are also a way of ridding the forest of old vegetation, leaving room for new plant life to grow.

 

The forest creates a natural cycle of death and rebirth, ensuring that the ground is continuously enriched.

he white forest is a cold and harsh environment. During the winter, the forest, land, and lakes freeze. This is a tough place to live and therefore barren of folk. The summer months are short and provide continuous sunlight, while during the winter, it is continuous night.

Many areas of the white forest are densly packed with evergreen trees such as pine and spruce. It also hosts numerous lakes, rivers and wetlands that contribute to the ecosystems diversity. There are different wildlife creatures that live in the area including wild bears, foxes, hares, wild birds and fish. The vegetation is hardy to endure the cold winters and the animals have thick fur that changes colour throughout the year. During the warm months, animal furs are light brown. ecause the white forest is under snow for most of the year, the vegetation and plant life is very hardy. Evergreen trees such as pine and spruce are common in this area, as they do not shed their leaves in the fall. In the southernmost point of the forest, there are a few oak and birch trees. Other plants include short and hardy bushes such as wild berries, juniper berries, and rosehip.

The boreal forest is home to birds, deers, caribou, bears, hares, foxes, insects, wild mushrooms, berries and other plants.

I really liked this forest ecosystem. It seems very realistic and lifelike. I wonder if there are any unusual dangers to travelers in the area. Monsters, diseases, and/or natural/unnatural phenomenon.

Thank you for your feedback! I am going to expand this territory as it will be part of my world and novel. Not only will there be unusual herbs and spices coming from this area, but there will also be poison. I will also incorporate mysterious lore from this area, too. Imagine elements of the series "The Terror." If you have not seen this series, it's a thriller where British Ships get stuck in the Ice of the Northern Passage. Very creepy, freezing, dark and dangerous!
