Velor
Velors are a sapient humanoid species from the planet Prometheia. They are characterized by white bodies and hairless heads with very delicate ridges on top of them. Velors are the founders of the Coalition of Independent Planets. Velors are also very spiritual.
Velors are a unique species in the galaxy. They are probably the only species which had a single world government before the era of space exploration. According to the Veloran sacred texts, the reason for that is the visit of the Elders. Elders, obviously that wasn't the real name of the species, were an advanced species which chose to guide Velors in their development. This lead to the Velors starting to worship the Elders as gods. That belief was the founding stone of the Church of the Elders, which rose to power and eventually became the world government on Prometheia. Another Veloran belief is that they were chosen by the Elders to be the protectors of peace and prosperity in the galaxy. That belief lead them to the foundation of the Interstellar Coalition.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Except for the skin colour and lack of hair, Velors look almost identical to humans. There is sexual dimorphism among them. The most visible difference between males and females is the size of the neck and head. Females have slightly thinner and longer necks. They also have smaller heads, compared to males. However, that difference doesn't affect intellectual capabilities. Veloran males and females are equally intelligent. In some cases, females surpass males intellectually.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Velors have the same 5 senses as humans. None of them is weaker or stronger. About 50 years ago scientists discovered something that suggested psionic potential in Veloran brain. Research towards unlocking it was started right away. However, it was abandoned after the death of a few test subjects. Psionics was deemed a dangerous area of study that shouldn't be investigated ever again.

Average Technological Level
Velors are advanced technologically. They have invented a faster-than-light engine many years ago. Another important invention is a translator implant. It works as a database of languages which is connected straight to the person's brain and allows that person to speak any language from the database as they were born a native speaker of that language.
Culture and Cultural Heritage
Pok
Poks are ancient tribal markings. Each tribe had its Pok with variations for chief, shaman, warriors, hunters, women and children. One unique Pok which was used by all Velors was Pok-Uk. Pok-Uk was a marking related to the Elders. It was a red horizontal line on the forehead. In the early days of the Veloran religion, it was believed that spirits of the Elders can be summoned to protect a person. Pok-Uk was believed to be a mark that summons the spirit when the wearer is in danger. Because of its religious meaning, many Velors wore Pok-Uk long after the tribal division disappeared and other Poks were abandoned. Eventually, the Pok-Uk was also abandoned. It was related to a change in Veloran belives. They stopped believing that Elders are concerned about every Veloran life individually, but are concerned with a bigger picture.

Common Myths and Legends
The most important myth of the Veloran culture are the Elders. According to the official records of the Church, their arrival and actions are historical facts. Any conceptions that the truth is different are treated as heresy. It is the only heresy in Veloran culture.
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Velors relations with other species are heavily influenced by their belief of being chosen to protect peace and prosperity in the galaxy. They accept everyone willing to peacefully coexist. On the other hand, Velors are ready to go to war with any civilization that poses a threat to the galactic peace.
