Schaefer Tribe
Culture
The Schaefers are a very traditional tribe, who pride themselves on their truly savage nature. They prefer to live as raiders and pillagers, rather than to cooperate with other tribes or homesteads. Do to this they are often regarded as barbarian by many who regard themselves as civilized.
History
The Schaefer tribe are the descendants of the families that lived in Sanctuary that was once a Pre-Conflux large-scale housing community on the outskirts of a major city. After the great confluence event the residents of Sanctuary and the surrounding neighborhoods had to either learn to survive in what the world had changed into or die. The few that were either smart or strong enough to adapt to the new world banded together and then their descendants later formed the Schaefer tribe, the name was taken from the name of the street that passed through the neighborhood.
Technological Level
The Schaefers are a very low-tech society and are at a tribe level but do know how to make metal tools and weapons, however most of the metal weapons that the Schaefers use are made from metal that they have scavenged from the abandoned houses then hammered it into the shape of a sword or battle ax.
Past simple metal working the Schaefers also know how to tame animals and have tamed large groups of wild boars to use as war beasts.
Religion
The Schaefers religion is a mixture of ancestor worship and of the great boar spirit. The Schaefers worship the great spirit boar that they believe is the guardian of their ancestors.
Mythology & Lore
The Schaefers believe that after the great confluence the reason that their ancestors did not all die is due to the great earth boar spirit giving the strength to not just survive but to also conquer. The Schaefer now worship the great boar believing it to be the guardian of their ancestors and the form of the great spirit being the boar makes the wild boar their totem animal.
Worship
The shaman of the Schaefer carves boar totems in their territory and leave offerings to boars, usually offerings of meat and bones but also occasionally the remains of the tribe's enemies. They believe that their ancestors can travel back to the world of living through these totems to give them strength and protect them. The Schaefers also fill a kingship with the wild boar that roam the land and often keep them as hunting animals and war beasts believing them to be spiritual guides of the die and the totem animals of there people.
