The Brotherhood of Steel

The Brotherhood of Steel is either known as an organization committed to protecting and serving humanity, or an overzealous order who would reign as tyrants over the wasteland and its people, depending on who you asked.    The Brotherhood is committed to its order and structure as well as its mission to keep dangerous technology out of the hands of the undeserving and undesirable. No matter your option on the Brotherhood of Steel, there is no denying they have a strong chain of command and a goal that unifies them. This can make them make strong allies or formidable enemies.   The Brotherhood of Steel in the New California Republic has a Stronger influence in the Territories near Oakland and Alameda as they were known in Pre-War California they have dispatched several Expeditionary and Recon Teams into Central California over the last two decades for both Technological recovery and recruitment purposes and often look for former Military bases, National Guard posts, or Police Stations to operate out of within the wasteland that is the central region of the new California Republic.

Structure

Here ore some of the Ranks or titles held within the Brotherhood of steel in Highest to Lowest.  
  1. Elder (Senior Members of the Brotherhood Leadership Council Many have their own Chapters.)
  2. Paladin (Prized Veterans and decorated fighters who show unwavering devotion to the Brotherhood.)
  3. Knight (Respected Veterans usually in charge of maintaining weapons, armor, and prized technology.)
  4. Lancer (Brotherhood Members who Pilot Vertibirds or are on Vertibird teams with some combat experience.)
  5. Scribe (Record Keepers and scholars in charge of recovering technology and serving in basic combat roles.)
  6. Initiate (New Recruits brought into the folds of the brotherhood Typically with less than 1 year of service.)

Culture

The Brotherhood of Steel is in essence a Paramilitary Organization. It has a Top Down Military Like Structure. Some of their Core Beliefs are as follows:  
  • Loyalty to The Brotherhood above all else
  • Dedication to the Recovery of Pre-War Artifacts and Technology
  • Eradication and Destruction of Unclean Occupants such as Feral Ghouls, Super Mutants.
  • Eradication of Artificial Intelligent life such as Synths.

Preservation and Protection of Old World Technology for the perseverance of mankind.

History

The History of the Brotherhood of Steel in the New California Republic is somewhat closed on exact dates it is said that it was founded by Roger Maxson around 2082 but has seen many new leaders in the last couple hundred years with divisions on directions of the Brotherhood among many of the Elders. Two known Factions of the Brotherhood have broken off from the Oakland Chapter. One Faction aptly is named the "Dustbowl Brotherhood" and exerts its power and influence Doctrine in the Central region of the New California Republic with Recon teams and Expeditionary forces in Stockton, Lodi, Modesto, and Merced. Another Faction is called the Sequoia Brotherhood and has banned in a loose alliance with the Free State of Jefferson North of the New California Republic with headquarters in Fort Brag and Expeditionary forces and recon teams in Eureka, Redding, and Red Bluff. These Separate Factions of the Brotherhood of Steel still hold to many of the principles and ideals but are almost as powerful but operate under their own leadership.

Education

Education of new Recruits in the Brotherhood is through the Initiate Program. New members fall under the tutelage of Senior ranking members of the Brotherhood usually Knights or Paladins. Initiates are then Taught through hands-on Training and instruction and given an increased level of take to complete their Initation into the Brotherhood of Steel.
